I'm Mike Tuccelli, 60 years young, on the faculty at the University of Florida. I teach the world's most exciting foreign language, American Sign Language. I'm profoundly deaf since birth but have clear speech (at age five I still couldn't speak but thanks to my mom with high expectations and excellent speech therapists) and I use American Sign Language with enthusiasm.
In the above photo, my 94-year-old Dad rides his Honda daily. He had a 4 cylinder Indian during the 1930s and was known as Indian Pat. What a great role model for me!
After being against cochlear implants for 25 years, I decided to get one and I love it as I finally can hear a cat's purr, my wife's beautiful laugh (and unfortunately, the computer's fan).
